You may either fly in to Cozumel (which is the closest and easiest) or if you would like to save money you may fly into Cancun. The resort does not offer transportation so we have provided the best way we feel to get to the hotel along with other options.
If you fly into Cozumel, airport code is CZM, the hotel is 12.3 miles away and takes about 20 mintues to get to the hotel. The best solution would be to take a shared van. They put passengers going in the same zone so usually there is only a few stops. There is a ticket booth after you exit customs to your right before you exit the airport. The price for Occidental Resort is about 200 Peso's per person (about $10 USD). It is more expensive to pay in USD about $25. Occidental Resort is in Zone 2. You may also order a private van, pay in advance with a transportation service, rent a car or take a taxi. To rent a car or get a taxi you will need to walk off the airport grounds which is a 800 yard walk. There is a Thrify located off the airport grounds across the street. You may have to walk a little further to get a taxi because they are not allowed to go to the airport.
If you fly into Cancun, airport code is CUN. You will need to take the ferry over to Cozumel which leaves from Playa Del Carmen.
To get to Playa Del Carmen there is a bus you can take that goes straight from the airport to downtown which is within walking distance to the Pier. The bus is called ADO Aeropuerto, it takes about 1 hour 15 minutes in a comfortable, air conditioned bus. To find details about how to find it, where to get tickets, or other ways to get transportation click
. The current price is 208 Peso's.
Once you arrive you will walk to the ferry station (about 3 blocks) there are 2 ferries that you may take to get to Cozumel. Most people take the first available ferry which costs about 220 Peso's each way ($10 USD). If you have a lot of luggage you may get a tricycle taxi, about 100 Peso's ($5 USD). The ferry takes about 30 minutes to get to Cozumel and leaves about every 1/2 hour. After you reach Cozumel there are taxis at the end of the pier ready to take you to the hotel. You will want to negotiate rates with the taxi driver to take you to the hotel in advance, about 400 Peso's ($20 USD). The hotel is Occidental Cozumel which is 45 minutes away.
